Packed with innovative features to increase throughput, extend plate life and provide excellent image quality, the CRxVision is designed specifically for the inspection of welds. The scanner is developed to cover the stringent ISO 17636-2 Class A and B requirements, as well as ASTM, ASME and EN weld standards. Because of its versatility, it can also be used for many other applications across the NDT industry.

Flexible. It accepts a wide range of sizes, shapes and classes of imaging plates.

Intuitive. It does not require any gain setting or photomultiplier adjustments when exposing various thicknesses. The gain is automatically managed by the acquisition software.

Fast. Multiple plate scanning option is available: side-by-side and back-to-back with a flat transport path.

High resolution. New laser optics for profound reading and higher data extraction.

Extended plate life. On the non-sensitive part of the plate there is a ferromagnetic layer that allows magnetic transport without contact, and reduces the backscatter phenomenon.

Innovative plates. Imaging plates developed for CRxVision are more flexible, and able to return perfectly flat after being wrapped around tubes, ensuring uniformity of image during scanning.

Laser in direct contact. the laser beam is in direct contact with the plate to be scanned, to prevent the introduction of artifacts on the digital image.

Productivity. 45 plates/hr. (14x17”) @ 70µ o 14 plates/hr. (14x17”) @ 35µ.

ASTM DICONDE Compliant. CRxVision is fully compatible with the Rhythm software platform, distributed by Smart N.D.T. for GE Sensing & Inspection Technology, which provides processing, management, reporting and image archiving functions.

Flash! Filters. Both for the casting and welding markets, ad-hoc image processing algorithms called Flash! Filters have been developed, available as an optional package, to obtain images with a high quality detail.

Autocrop of the image. The Rhythm RT software makes the acquisition process extremely simple, thanks to the new autocrop function: the plate contours are automatically recognized by the software during the processing.

Easy maintenance. The light guide can be easily cleaned with an internal brush by turning a set of screws. The eraser is completely sealed respect to the optical part, to prevent the migration of dust particles in the reading system.

Applications. Although CRxVision is designed to be used in the welding industry, it has the capacity to cover a wide spectrum of applications in industrial radiography, in the Oil & Gas sector, in the Aerospace sector, through the Power Generation and Casting industry.


CR Phantom. It is a test to verify conformity of 14 "x17" Computed Radiography systems according to ASTM 2445-05, ISO 16371-1, EN 14784-1. In particular, this test investigates spatial resolution, contrast, MTF, jitter, slipping, shading and SNRN. Smart N.D.T. provides procedures and operating instructions for conducting quality tests dedicated to CR Scanners and Rhythm Software.

Plates IPU, IPS e IPC2. Specifically designed by GE Sensing & Inspection Technology to meet the requirements of the industrial sector of non-destructive tests, the IPS plates, IPC2 and the most recent and performing IPU are the solutions proposed by Smart N.D.T. to satisfy the request for solutions able to provide high quality of image, speed of exposure and increase in the useful life of the plates. The new plates developed by GE have received the BAM certificate and are recognized as highly reliable plates by a large number of leading companies in their sector for Aerospace, Oil & Gas and Power Generation applications.
